After graduating from Downers Grove South High School, in 1998 Coach John was recruited by Lewis University Track and Field Head Coach, Jeff Degraw. While attending Lewis University, he received a myriad of indoor and outdoor tracks and field accolades ranging from the 60-meter dash to the 400-meter hurdles. In 2001,Coach John was ranked and awarded the 13th fastest sprinter in 2001 NCAA Division 2 Track and Field, and 34th fastest sprinter of combined Division 1, 2, and 3.
In 2002, Coach John graduated from Lewis University with a major in criminology and double minor in political and computer science. In 2002, he attended the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. During that time and shortly after, John began competing at track and field competitions unattached, having a successful career. In 2010, John was discovered by track and field hall of fame coach, Tony Holler of Plainfield North High School. This is where John currently coaches men's and women's track and field sprinter/hurdlers. In addition, he teaches speed and agility and sprint mechanics to the Plainfield North Football and Baseball Teams.
Coach John STRONGLY believes that today's athlete must incorporate important sprint mechanics and training regimens to develop fast twitch muscle fibers to gain the competitive edge in today's sports realm. As I always say, "I'd rather be caught with speed, than without it."
